With over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Harkaran is a seasoned and passionate leader who specializes in luxury hotel management, food and beverage operations, and revenue optimization. He is currently the General Manager for The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel, New Delhi which features 480 luxurious guest rooms and suites. The hotel is one of the largest luxury convention hotels in India with 70,000 sq.ft. of multi-purpose meeting and banqueting space, including a pillar-less ballroom of 24,497 sq.ft. with pre-function areas in excess of 25,000 sq.ft. along with serene well cured outdoor lawns. The hotel also offers 5 distinctive F&B options, wellness and recreation zones which include, a fully equipped Gymnasium, Spa & saloon, and Kids zone.
Prior to joining The Leela Hotels, Harkaran was the General Manager (Since Pre-opening) for Aurika Mumbai Skycity, a luxury brand of Lemon Tree Hotels Ltd., which is the largest inventory hotel under one complex and one brand in India with 669 rooms and suites. He successfully launched the hotel in October 2023 and positioned it to be a preferred hotel for guests and colleagues through experiences which are beyond the unusual and quickly gained market share in the dense market of Andheri East, Mumbai, amongst established luxury and upper upscale hotels.
Harkaran held various positions at Hyatt Hotels Corporation for 13 years, and his last assignment (before joining Aurika), as the Pre-opening to Opening General Manager of Hyatt Regency Dehradun Resort and Spa, where he successfully positioned the hotel as a new destination for luxury weddings, MICE, and leisure resort in the country.
Harkaran is known for his strategic focus, financial discipline, and result-oriented approach, as well as his talent management and development skills, having groomed several leadership roles for Hyatt and other companies.
