Chief Marketing Officer

Regarded as a Marketing Leader providing marketing, communications and events solutions to Sovereign Owned Entities in the Middle East and major international brands on a global scale. In his current role Alan is Chief Marketing Officer for the Majid Al Futtaim Communities Business Unit, over-seeing the marketing strategy for their mixed-use development projects in UAE, Beirut and Oman. Prior to that he ran his own consultancy supporting governments and major clients with marketing and events strategies.
 
His previous role as the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications in one of Abu Dhabi’s leading development organizations, the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC), saw him driving the marketing efforts for major projects such as the 27 sq km Saadiyat Island, the Desert Islands, the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Museum amongst other commercial, leisure and residential products. During his 27 years within the Marketing, Event Management and Communications arena, Alan has also been responsible for leading the Group Marketing and Communications of the Al Futtaim Group, one of the foremost trading company in the Gulf.
 
During his time with Al Futtaim Alan oversaw the company’s Group marketing and additionally as the GM of the groups 100 team strong advertising agency, he supported brands such as ‘Dubai Festival City’, Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Hertz, IKEA, M&S, and Panasonic, to name a few. Previously, Alan was GM of the Dubai Shopping Festival’s ‘Global Village’ from 2002-04 where his efforts led to a record attendance of over 5.3 million visitors within the 30-day period.
 
Other senior appointments have covered global corporate communications plus general management positions within marketing and event production companies such as Gearhouse LLC.

 

Alan is a member of and qualified with the Chartered Institute of Marketing and also holds a BA (Hons) degree in Design and Communication. He is also a Marketing lecturer and Honorary Chairman of the EMDI Institute of Media and Communications in Dubai.
