Abhinav Iyer is Senior General Manager – Marketing & Strategy for Muthoot Finance & The Muthoot Group based at their Corporate Office in Delhi.
Over the last 11+ years in Muthoot Finance, Abhinav has led a plethora of transformational marketing initiatives including engagement of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan & Mrs Madhuri Dixit as the Brand Ambassadors, partnering with Chennai Super Kings as their Principal Team Partner, associating with India Super League and Jaipur Pink Panthers to name a few.
Abhinav has designed and launched many thought-provoking, high-impact marketing campaigns such as “Sunheri Soch” Season1,2&3, ‘Soch Badaliye’, ‘Life Mein Aagey Badhiye’, ‘Kholiye Khushiyon Ki Tijori’, for the brand, in the highly competitive Gold Loan category. Each of these campaigns have hugely contributed in expanding the Gold Loan category by bringing about an attitudinal transformation in the minds of loan seekers.
His love for innovation and urge to create a strong brand identity for Muthoot Finance based on the brand’s core value of ‘Trust’ led to the highly awarded activation campaign ‘Muthoot Finance Vishwaas Ki Tijori’ at Kumbh Mela in 2019 and 2025 which received unprecedented appreciation and recognition.
His vision to create unmatched signature outdoor sites for the brand led him to execute the Branding & Semi-naming rights of the Greater Kailash Metro Station in Delhi, Nandanam Metro Station in Chennai and Jaipur Railway Station Metro in Jaipur.
The last few years have truly been the high point in the brand’s marketing journey with Abhinav leading some path-breaking marketing campaigns like ‘Gold Loan is Good’ and ‘Haathi Pe Bharosa Karogey toh Pakka Jeetogey’ with Mr Bachchan and Bharosa India Ka song & dance based ad campaign with Madhuri. All these campaigns created unprecedented impact for Muthoot Finance besides contributing in making gold loans a highly acceptable and welcoming loan product for Indians at large.
Earlier, Abhinav was heading Bank of Baroda UK’s Marketing function at London for many years. Prior to that, while in India, he also led Bank of Baroda’s Business Transformation Initiative launching the highly successful Retail Loan Factories across India. Emerging as the blue eyed boy of the Bank, he was one of the youngest officers to be posted abroad.
Abhinav has also been featured in Exchange for Media’s Digital 40 Under 40 in 2021, Agency Reporter’s 40 Under 40 Most Disruptive Minds in 2020 and has won many awards including CMO Asia in 2019, Global Marketing Excellence Awards 2021 to name a few.
He has also been the recipient of the prestigious Pitch CMO Award in 2022 and Experiential CMO at WOW Awards 2022.
His leadership and marketing efforts have also led Muthoot Finance to win many laurels at Abby’s 2019, Golden Mikes 2019, Primetime Awards 2019, Economic Times BFSI Awards 2020, NEONS 2020, Indian Content Marketing Awards 2020 and most the Indian Marketing Awards 2021 earlier this month.
Abhinav is a MBA from Birla Institute of Management Technology with 20+ years of rich experience in Marketing & Business Transformation in the BFSI sector in India and abroad. He has led many critical business transformation projects working alongside world renowned Consultants McKinsey & Company, BCG and Deloitte.
